Though this might not work - it might push you to 3.1.2 if your lucky enough --> http://modmyi.com/forums/3g-s-downgr...hout-shsh.html

Though I would wait for a second opinion here. I never tried downgrading my 3GS from 4.0. Never had a reason to really. But I guess your using jailbreak or something.

You can use quickpwn22. Run quickpwn, follow the message box ( do the 15 secs count and additional 2 secs count ) will get you out of the error 1015.

Will running through the quickpwn program downgrade the firmware from 4.0 to 3.1.3?

No, that quickPwn is only made to jailbreak iphone 3G 3.0 beta 5. it wont jailbreak or detect anything else. all it does anymore it free you from the 1015 error.

Quickpwn is not used to downgrade. Run quickpwn if error 1015 pops up. Follow the message, do the 15 secs count and additional 2 secs count, your Iphone will be booted up again. Do not use it to jailbreak your 3GS

i live in Uganda and recently got an iphone 3gs (unlocked, jailbroke, untethered) from usa - popped a local sim card in and it has been working well. til i got it into recovery mode while syncing to itunes - its stuck and gives me the 1015 error even after doing what mac suggested.
    help me get it out.
completely clueless over what firmware etc it had. can't get a hold of buyer to get more information.
so -it seems i should 'run the quickpwn'? is this correct? if so - where do i find quickpwn - i'm very new with this techie stuff
