Your Iphone is pretty screwed up, the next thing to do is hopefully you can restore back to 3.1.2.

    Assuming you have PC :

Add this line to your hosts file :
    Cwindows\system22\drivers\etc\hosts : 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
    save it.

Put your Iphone in DFU mode and do a restore to 3.1.2. If you can, you will encounter error 1015,(don't worry , there will be a next step)
If it says not eligible , you are screwed and hopefully you can restore to 3.1.3 and lose your unlock.
    Let me know what happens

I have the exact same problem. I have a redsn0w jailbreaked and unlocked 3GS on firmware 3.1.2 with the new bootrom and I pressed the spirit button just to try it and the device rebooted in recovery mode. Seems as if the whole OS was deleted in a couple of seconds.

I have pressed the "Make my life easier" button in Cydia and I have always had the message that my SHSH:s are backed-up on Cydia. I have therefore tried to restore my device to 3.1.2 in DFU-mode and I've changed the host file to:
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
It still doesn't work! My logs for iTunes show the following:

I've tried everything to get my iPhone going, nothing works! How can I get it going again?

Try this first : Put your Iphone in DFU mode and Use Usbview to see if you can view your ECID. It is a 16 digits. If you do, input it into fw umbrella and see if it creates the file for 3.1.2 shsh and 3.1.3 shsh.
The reason why I am asking you to do this is to make sure that your ECID is not corrupted

I tried this, it creates the file for 3.1.3 shsh but not for the 3.1.2 shsh for some reason. My firmware should be 3.1.2 so how come umbrella can't create shsh blobs for this?

Well, you missed the dateline for 3.1.2 shsh blob on Feb 2nd or 3rd. Now you can only restore to 3.1.3.

To do that, power off your Iphone, keep holding your home button and connect USB cable to pc and wait until Itunes detects it in Recovery mode. Go ahead and restore to 3.1.3, unfortunately you lose your unlock

Do you have a sim card to activate your Official Iphone carrier ?

Edit : You have no choice now, no matter what you do, you cannot restore to 3.1.2..

Edit : Make sure you point back your host file to Apple when restoring to 3.1.3
