    hello guys.

    i have an iphone 3gs, 3.1.2
it was jb with blackra1n and unlocked also, everything was working fine, the only problem is that i couldnt switch it on and off propely . ( i had to restart it using blackra1n everytime )

when i heard about spirit jb i ran and applied it on the phone that i have without having a clean 3.1.2 firmware.

so it turned off, then i tried to use blackra1n again and nothing could be done, my phone was stuck in "connect to itunes". and everytime i try to use blackra1n it restart.

i learned how i could SHSH since i didn't know how to do it and i could use the new program UmbrellaTinyTSS and had my SHSH file which showed 3.1.2, all this happened after i was stuck with "connect to itunes" situation.

now when i try to use UmrebllaTSS it doesn't work, the program works but i try to install 3.1.2 again it tells error 1600.

i', trying to read here in there but, i don't know. is there any solution for this problem ?? and what's your suggestion??

thanks in advance for your hard work .

If you can see a 3.1.2 shsh file created in your Umbrella folder, then point your hosts file to Cydia by adding this line
    74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
and then restore back to 3.1.2 again and the apply Spirit jailbreak.
If you don't see the 3.1.2 shsh file , then you are out of luck, restoring to 3.1.3 is your only option.
If you need an unlock, your only option will be this :
Preventing baseband update as a last-ditch effort [iPhone Dev Team]

i have my SHSH files with me and it shows it is 3.1.2, now when it comes to using tinytss and adding the host name. i think there's a problem there

i'll tell exactly what i do.

1- i change the host file by double clicking and adding the last line as
    74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

2- i put my phone as dfu mode and then try to install 3.1.2 again but i get 1600 - 1601 - 1604 errors.

i read that we should do somthing regarding cmd and these things, i tried some of them, but i couldn't do it properly i think.

eventhough i found a person who done a program where we should just put the extension of the file that contain Tinytss program. and the name of the SHSH file and automaticly it will add it to the phone ( AS i understood).

Again i had the same errors.

so what do you think is going wrong down here ?!

    dhamien

the problem is that in iclarified.com, this isn't mentioned at all !!

Then the iClarified guide is ****. The warning is written on the spiritjb.com site.

Anywho, to your problem, you're not supposed to use TinyTSS if you've edited the hosts file to re-direct iTunes to Saurik's server. When you edit the file, you're telling your computer that any attempts to contact gs.apple.com should be re-directed to the IP address you put in.

TinyTSS, on the other hand, is if you want to use your own computer as the server that iTunes connects to. In that case, the IP you'd put in the hosts file is 127.0.0.1

Just noticed that you're using the wrong IP address. You should be using 74.208.10.249

To make sure things work, when you've edited the hosts file and put in the IP I just wrote(you might need to reboot your computer here), open up a command prompt and type in:

    ping gs.apple.com

The response you get should come from the IP you put in the hosts file. Then try shift-restoring from both DFU mode and recovery mode (my guess is you need recovery mode). At no point should you run the Firmware Umbrella or TinyTSS.

thanks for the help, but i'm still having the same error.

i would like to mention something, i don't remember whether i pushed the button for make life easier on my iphone.

but i do have the SHSH file with me in the folder, so shall i point the server again to sureik or shall i point it to my computer ?!

by the way my etc file looks like

    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
    #
    #127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
so what i'm doing wrong ?

    ( the error i get is 1600 )

your SHSH is stored with the Saurik/Cydia server so point your host at that one. "74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com" just delete the other reference to GS.APPLE.COM.

don't forget that sometimes your hosts file is marked as READ ONLY in "properties, so you have to uncheck that before saving the hosts file.

    now i discovered something
on my computer there are two files with different ecid numbers.
one is with my iphone number, the other is with different number, when i use (umbrella-03.13.81), which is used to save the SHSH file, the additional thing is that it helps you doing the hosts file automatically. now when i use this program it tells me that the iphone [3.1.2(7D11) 12131413] can be restored safely.

the numbers are the ecid number but this one isn't my iphone ecid number, i have another SHSH file with my my iphone ecid number but i'm trying to get the program to tell that i can restore is safely but i can't !!

anyone knows anything regarding this ?

Every Iphone will have an unique ECID, when you use USBview, you will find your ECID for your Iphone. It is always the same for that Iphone. Copy that and input into the box after you run the umbrella , click submit and it will create a 3.1.2 shsh file in that fw umbrella folder. Not to confuse yourself, you should delete whatever shsh file you created earlier in the fw umbrella folder and start a new.

Both of the numbers are actually your ECID. One is just written in hexadecimal while the other is decimal.

You're trying to restore to stock 3.1.2 right? And you've tried from both recovery and DFU mode?

Here's the article Saurik wrote concerning SHSHs, you might get something from it: Caching Apple's Signature Server - Jay Freeman (saurik)

now i have both numbers, eventhough i don't know what's the difference between decimal and hexadecimal.

and when i try to downgrade it error 1600 shows !!

i tried in DFU and ( i think in recovery, i'm not home now i'll give it another shot when iget back home )

so any help would be appreciated

You're not supposed to extract it. Download it through Firefox. Other browsers have a tendency to change the ipsw file into a zip file.

thanks for replaying i've done everything you said
    this time there's another response
it tells me that my iphone isn't eligible for the build
all add the .shsh file to ensure that it's the right file

it wont allow me to upload the files but it's extensions are like this

    000002B43A10C34F-iphone-3.1.2.shsh

    000002B43A10C34F-iphone-3.1.2.shsh.0.bak

    2973091545935-iphone-3.1.2

    2973091545935-iphone-3.1.2.shsh.0.bak

    my ecid is 000002B43A10C34F

    mmmmmm so what next ?

by the way i heard that 3.1.3 unlock is on the way ? >> start to admit losing

This is really strange. Your files are there but you get the 'ineligible build' error. Have you edited your hosts file and done the ping test?

Yes. Assuming your 3.1.2 SHSH is on Cydia's server, you should now be able to shift-restore in iTunes while pointing to the downloaded 3.1.2 firmware.

Are you sure your 3.1.2 SHSH is stored on the server? You need to have pressed the 'Make my life easier' button before February 3rd.
