Ipod touch 3G, you need shsh blogs to downgrade too. Have you done this yet :
You have to edit your hosts file with Notepad to point to Cydia, add this line to your hosts file :
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    Save it, reboot your pc
Do the Shift + Restore to 4.0 or 4.0.1 ipsw

You have to run Notepad as admin. Then open to the hosts file, it will allow you to save it

I am not only your iPhone teacher but also a computer teacher..haha

You'll need a Windows XP/Vista/7 computer or an OS X 10.4 or later computer to do the downgrade, as you need iTunes or Xcode (fancier program for OS X iPhone devs). IDK if iDeviceRestore is perfect for Linux yet, so I cannot recommend it.

--Anywho, this is all irrelevant if you did not back up your SHSH blobs for 4.0 through either TinyUmbrella or via your already-jailbroken iPT through Cydia and "make my life easier, thanks!"

If you didn't do either Cydia or Umbrella, there's nothing you can do sadly. Grab TU (The Firmware Umbrella), and save the current set of blobs (4.1) by clicking "Save my SHSH" with your iPT plugged into the computer.

If you did back up blobs in Cydia or with TU, start with grabbing Umbrella if you don't already have it, and select Advanced Options, set the Request Blobs to 4.0 (8A293)/ iPod 3G, and grab away. We'll start there; follow the linked tutorial and you should be good (http://modmyi.com/forums/general/725...e-restore.html).
