I have an iPhone 3G running 4.2.1 (8C148) with a baseband of 5.15.04.... I am trying to turn it into an iPod for my son, but it will not run any "New" software.... Is it possible to upgrade this to ios 6? Or, anything close to it? It is jailbroken right now.

I have tried Whited00r Upgrade Unlock Jailbreak iPhone 2G/3G iPod Touch 1G/2G, but not been successful in installing it.

    Any help?

Unfortunately, iOS 4.2.1 is the latest version of iOS available for the iPhone 3G. Sorry about that.

OK, I have exactly same phone with same software, so not possible to upgrade (with jailbreak) to at least iOS5?

Another question, I have my contacts on the phone, and it is not jailbreak-ed yet, will do it tomorrow. Is it possible to save contacts somehow, jailbreak and install iOS 4.1.2 from clean install (since I do not have any apps, photos, videos..) and somehow restore only contacts ?
    Trust Me, I'm an "Engineer"
