Is there a way n app could be made to alter vibration settings, eg three bursts for an SMS and one for a mail etc or length, power etc??
Would be nice to hear a response

This would be cool. My friend had an old nokia phone that would vibrate in sync with the ring tone.

The vibrate function is, if i remeber correctly, contoled by the soundbehavior.plist, if you're with plist code... it could probably be done pretty easily, i might even be able to work at it.
