You need to SFTP to your iPhone or using iBrickr (any way you normal connect to your iPhone) and place your books in /var/root/Media/EBooks

Your files must be saved as <filename>.txt or <filename>.html otherwise the Books.app cannot read them.
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

This isn't working with firmware 1.1.4
I have the ebooks in /var/root/Media/EBooks saved as html, and they are not showing up on Books.app. Also, my wireless network is obviously messed up because i get the connection errors on WinSCP. Therefore, I can't change the permissions... Please help...

There's Bookshelf Lite for free or Bookshelf for $9.99, its about the best. There's also eReader for free. All are on the Appstore.

Dont't forget Stanza in the App Store, I prefer it over e-reader at least. Haven't tried bookshelf yet, so I can't say anything about that one.

I like Stanza as well since it supports many formats. I've been successfully uploaded .doc, .pdb, .rtf and even the Microsoft .lit format plus it also supports many lanaguages including Chinese & Japanese. Most of my ebooks are in Chinese & Japanese, they are all uploaded to Stanza correctly.
    Cheers

Yulp...Stanza's the best. A LOT more features and a much nicer price tag: Free.
PLEASE click everyone's "Thanks" buttons...they are begging for it.

Hi if you are looking for a way to read ebooks in pdf txt and other types of formats i have a simple and easy solution.

First off I dont think your device needs to be cracked to use this method. Also you dont need Wifi to put books on your device.

What you will be doing is using a free ebook reading program called GoodReader Lite.

    GR Lite for Iphone/Ipod

    GoodReader Lite for Iphone/Ipod!

Install this app onto your device via Itunes. To install documents into Goodreader you will install a program called Iphone Browser onto your computer. This will allow you to view the root structure of your device and will also allow you to add documents to your GoodReader Library.

    IPhone Browser Link

    Iphone/Ipod Touch Browser!

Once you have installed Iphone Browser then open the program. On the left side of the interface is the root folder of your device. Oh yeah the Iphone browser works for Ipod Touch devices also.

Go ROOT>User>Application> [Different for every device]> Documents.

Inside of that Application folder are the applications on your device. Each app is contained within a folder named with a long chain of letters and numbers. You will have to open them until you find the one that contains the folder goodreader.app.

My GoodReader Document chain looks like this

    Root> User> Application> 379c3c2c-ce16-4e74-8683-aa1d567f913> documents.

All of my reading material goes into that document folder.

After you get the documents in there you just open your GoodReader app on your device, select your document and read away! Readers Enjoy!!
