Ok. With the release of frimware 1.2(2.0) coming out soon, it has really got my mind running. There are going to be a ton of cool apps and stuff that will be on 1.2. But the question is, should we upgrade when it comes out and is it really worth it to jailbreak? I heard so many things about 1.2 and about unlocking and jailbreaking it and it makes it seem like a bad idea to update when it comes out. Should we wait for pwnage, iliberty, idemocracy, etc. to gain support for 1.2?

I think we should let the experts and devs be the early adopters and wait for them to post some reviews and update the GUI programs. I for one am not going to pop the back off my iPhone again to complete a circuit using a twist tie to erase the boot loader so I can make my iPhone functional again!

Once it is cracked, which shouldn't take to long. Update, is your phone working well how you like it now? If it is don't fix what isn't broken.

Upgrade and pwn it. With the App Store AND Installer, you can get every quality app made with the SDK...

We'll need two things before 2.0 will be good to go:
    1. Jailbreak-able(it can already be unlocked)
    2. Installer.app apps upgraded to 2.0 by devs

Exactly my view. Just like the old saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Yeah but there are new frameworks so all the apps on installer right now would have to be changed(quite a bit) for 2.0.[based on different post and threads found on MMi]

when the firmware 2.0 is pretty well broken down and i see that you can do a lot of stuff like safely jailbreak, unlock, etc., then i'll sell my 1st gen iPhone, then buy the new one.
