Just like the title suggests, do you pay for music/videos/movies?

In no way am I asking you HOW you retrieve it, just if you pay or not

I'll be the first to admit (at least in this thread) that I do not pay for media, unless it is a Dashboard Confessional CD lol

Also, what are your views on paying versus umm... not paying lol.
And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream!

I used not to, but about two years ago I decided to clean up my act. I cataloged all I had, filtered what I really wanted out of it, and deleted it all. Then I proceeded to rebuild my music library from scratch through iTunes mostly and CD's for the stuff not found in the iTunes store. For movies I just went ahead and got a Netflix account since I rarely watch a movie more than once.

So yes, as of like 2 years ago, I can happily say I own all the media I have

Wow. I wouldn't have too much pride in saying that.

I've got about 1,800 CDs that I've bought (though for the past ten years, a good percentage of those were used) and probably 130 DVDs.

If I like something, and I'm going to listen/watch it more than once, I'll buy it.

    thats like $2000 for a 4gb right?
idk its just alott of money
i have 623 songs as of today
and that adds up to more than just 623 dollars like when u have a hundred dollar card for itunes

    Yes, I'm a NARC lol.

But really though, I can understand buying music/movies etc via iTunes a la carte style, but who buys CD's anymore? Like $13 just for that one or two songs that are actually good? I'll pass thank you There are other things in life that I would gladly support, but why give someone who is already rich more money? (Yes I know that not all recording artists are 'rich', however we must concede that a large majority of the artists that are in the mainstream music selection in todays world are not hurting for cash.) So why help T-Pain buy another boat? lol

I find that the solution to bands that put out crappy CDs with only one or two good songs is not to buy CDs from bands that suck.

I'll get a lot of stuff from indie and local artists. I don't remember the last time I listened to the radio (well, other than NPR in the mornings and The Current when I was in Minneapolis last month).

I only pay when its a Dream Theater DVD or CD....and maybe some other groups I really like.
But all my other music......not paid
    Neither movies in my PC
If I paid a dollar for every song in my PC....man....that's a lot of money....
I like it more this way.

I paid for 16 cd's in 2007. That may be more than most people buy within 2 or 3 years. I like to buy music when I really enjoy listening to the album alot, I feel the need to support the artist or band.

I am an American, but living in Moscow, Ru. Sometimes I buy a cd or a dvd, but even then, 90% of the time it is a pirate copy anyhow. If I download, I have a better chance of getting one with English (dvds).
