• Update to Gmail for iOS Brings New Features to the iPhone and iPad

Google updated its Gmail app for Apple’s iPhone and iPad on Wednesday, after a half-year hiatus. The update now allows you to move between conversations and messages by swiping left or right on the message body itself- without having to return to the main repository.

The full list of changes and detailed update on the new control options can be found on the Official Gmail Blog. Version 2.1 also allows users to take action on multiple emails at the same time- once a message is selected and is in edit mode, archiving, deleting and other actions can be taken. Messages are marked as read once they are viewed.

The latest version of the Gmail app is available for free in Apple’s App Store. It is a 16.4 MB download and requires iOS 5.0 or higher in order to be downloaded. The updated version is not only time-saving but efficiency-increasing as well.

For those of you who are using it, how do you like the new version of Gmail on your iOS device?

Of course, the swipe-to-switch feature doesn't work on iPad (even though the update still mentioned it). I guess it's iPod touch / iPhone only.
