The highly anticipated VLC media player application for iOS has finally returned to the App Store Thursday night after being absent for a few years because of issues with copyright and App Store terms and conditions. The issues that had the application removed from the App Store in the first place are no longer present in this version of the application, and it's free and open source.
VLC for iOS gives users a way to play all kinds of media file types from their iOS devices, which are otherwise unsupported by the factory software. The application includes several useful features such as the ability to upload media files to VLC for iOS through a Web browser on a computer, Dropbox integration, the ability to download videos from the Internet, video editing, and much more.
The latest version of the application, version 2.0, can be downloaded from the App Store for free via this App Store link and it is compatible with any iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS 5.1 or later. Grab it while it's hot!
