• Distimo Finds App Store Growth Slows, Revenue Still Dominant

On Monday, Distimo released a new monthly global apps report that delves into the app store highlights of July’s activity.

The app store analytics giant paid particularly close attention to the total revenue made by Google Play and the Apple App Store in the last half of the year. And the findings represent a double-edged sword for Apple.

One of the biggest findings in the new report is that over the past 6 months, both the Apple App Store and Google Play grew in terms of total revenue. The growth in Google Play, however, was substantially bigger (67%) than it was in the Apple App Store (15%).

When it comes to the almighty dollar, though, Apple remains squarely in charge. All told, the Apple App Store generated two times more revenue than Google Play.

The U.S. spent the most money on apps in July 2013, followed by Japan and South Korea - the main contributors to Google Play’s revenue.

The new Distimo report, which is available at no charge for download now, also highlights the best performing apps of July 2013 in terms of free downloads, paid downloads, and the highest revenue aggregated globally. To learn more, click here.
