• Popular Cut the Rope Game Named the App Store's App of the Week, Goes Free

Cut the Rope, one of the more popular iOS games out there, has been named the iOS App Storeís App of the Week. This is not only a way of recognition for the game that will help those searching the App Store to stumble upon it, but also a great accomplishment for the developers, which have been recognized by Apple for creating a quality application.

In Cut the Rope, you play in order to feed the creature (Om-Nom) the candy by slicing through ropes to get the physics just right enough that the candy will drop into Om-Nomís mouth. Cut the Rope was recently updated with new Cheese Box levels.

In becoming the App Storeís App of the Week, Cut the Rope is currently free for seven days, until the next App of the Week is announced. The free promotion exists for both the iPhone/iPod touch version of the application and the iPad version of the application.

Umm, so who pays the developer when an app is "app of the week"? Do they just lose a weeks worth of sales (+ all the freeloaders that wouldn't buy it in the first place?)

Probably get some kind of compensation for listing it for app of the week. Apple probably pays them a nice amount for it.
