• Online Apple Store Down As Mac Pro Release Looms

When the Apple Store goes down, that usually means one thing for when it returns - a new product will be front and center and ready for purchase.

On the heels of confirmation Wednesday that the 2013 Mac Pro will officially go on sale Thursday, December 19th, we all know what to expect here. So when the "We'll be back" sign is removed, the dramatically redesigned pro-grade machine will be present and ready for purchase.

As previously reported, the new Mac Pro starts at $2,999, although other configurations are available at an understandably higher cost.

“The new Mac Pro is our vision for the future of the pro desktop, everything about it has been reimagined and there has never been anything like it,” says Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior VP of Worldwide Marketing. “The new Mac Pro packs up to 12-core Xeon CPUs, dual FirePro GPUs, ultra-fast ECC memory, new PCIe flash storage, Thunderbolt 2 expandability and more into a radical new design that is one-eighth the size of the previous generation Mac Pro.”

Beginning today, the sexiest product Apple has released in a while will be available online, through the Apple Store, and also through select authorized retail partners.
