• Nokia Pulls its HERE Maps From the iOS App Store

During the times of trouble with Apple's built-in Maps application for iOS, many third-party companies rushed to the iOS scene to try and offer the "best" maps experience on the platform and show Apple how it was done.

One of those companies was Nokia, which released its HERE maps in the iOS App Store about a year ago.

While Nokia seemed entirely confident in their maps at first, the company appears to have pulled the HERE maps application from the iOS App Store. Nokia attributes their decision to remove the application to the recent changes in iOS 7, which the company says "harm the user experience:"

We have made the decision to remove our HERE Maps app from the Apple App Store because recent changes to iOS 7 harm the user experience. iPhone users can continue to use the mobile web version of HERE Maps under m.here.com, offering them location needs, such as search, routing, orientation, transit information and more, all completely free of charge.
Nokia also notes that iOS 7 users can still use their HERE maps through a Web browser by visiting m.here.com. Those that still have the application installed on their iOS devices can still use it, but it's clear that Nokia doesn't appear to have any plans to update their HERE maps for iOS 7.

This was easily the world navigation app in the AppStore. It came out a while ago, coupled with big promises, and it never managed to deliver.
