• VIDEO: Apple Snubs Super Bowl With Ad of Its Own

Of all major companies and brands to make an appearance with a Super Bowl commercial last night, one juggernaut company was conspicuously absent.

Last night, Apple was on the sidelines during the big game. Although the rumor mill was rampant with chatter about what the iDevice-maker would do in its 30-second chunk of precious advertising real estate, the company surprised many by not running a single ad during the sporting extravaganza.

Instead, Apple debuted a fan-made mini-movie on the company's YouTube channel, which celebrates the company's fabled history from underdog tech-maker to a revolutionary force in modern computing and consumer electronics. "Thirty years ago Macintosh promised to put technology in the hands of the people," the clip offers. "To celebrate Mac's birthday, this film was shot around the world in one day, entirely on iPhone. Here's to the next thirty."

In case you missed it (because of that little game that may have briefly wrangled your attention away from Apple last night), check out the full clip below.

They have, and it was a huge failure.

The iPhone camera isn't a success because it's good, it's a success because it's always in your pocket. Although it is good, it is technically unremarkable and could never match a Nikon or Canon DSLR. And no, you can't say wait another year, it is impossible. It's physics.

Ask any photographer what the best camera is and they'll tell you, it's the camera you have in your hand when that perfect shot presents itself.

Just because it's not pro DSLR quality doesn't mean it's not a good camera or able to produce great results.
