• Turkish Prez Eying Apple's R&D Capital

As MMi previously reported, Apple CEO Tim Cook has been traveling the globe this week to expand partnerships and explore opportunities with various entities and governments, including officials in Turkey.

With Apple planning to open what we're told is a one-of-a-kind flagship Apple store in Istanbul this year, Turkey and Apple have been working very closely in recent months. And, as we understand it, the President of Turkey envisions a much closer relationship moving forward.

"President Abdullah Gül has inspired a senior Apple executive to review attractive investment opportunities in Turkey, arguing more research and development (R&D) investment by Apple in Turkey would eventually be favorable for the company too," a new report out of the European nation reads.

Clearly, the chief executive of Turkey has his sights set on Apple's bountiful R&D capital.

Although the meeting was closed, the press office of the president posted a quite detailed press release on the official website of the presidency.
During the meeting, we're told that Gül articulated how his government has been effectively offering significant incentives in the field of R&D and strongly encouraged Apple to "attach more importance to Turkey on this issue."
