• Apple CEO Tim Cook Discusses Potential Education Collaboration with UAE Officials

As part of his ongoing whistle-stop world tour, Apple CEO Tim Cook recently spoke with UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi and a handful of other officials from both sides in Dubai. He discussed a range of topics including the development of next-generation educational applications and the possibilities of creating an all-new educational model that can be adopted by other nations.

Al Gergawi who received his postsecondary education in the United States praised the potential of a relationship with Apple, stating that the company’s history of innovation would be an asset as the government looks to set an example of how such public-private partnerships can benefit both parties. He had the following to say regarding the matter:

The UAE leadership's directives are clearly aligned toward establishing partnerships with global organizations, and the strategic partnership with Apple is in line with the directives of Shaikh Mohammed.
The recent meeting was the second publicly-acknowledged conversation between both Cook and UAE officials since he has been in the Middle East. The Apple CEO previously sat down with Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Abu Dhabi last Sunday. We’ll have to wait and see what comes as a result of Cook’s trip to the Middle East.

Too bad that they didn't discuss the fact that iDevices here don't have Facetime!!!! So, no possibility for the expats here to see the family or friends, or even a Facetime Audio call. In order to have these things, I need to buy my iPhone anywhere else in the western world. Ah, and use a VPN service as well to make it work... 😡
