• Tesla Not Talking About Apple's CarPlay

As MMi first reported on Monday, Apple this week formally unveiled CarPlay, which gives iPhone users an intuitive way to make calls, use Maps, listen to music and access messages while in their vehicles.

Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo are already on board. But noticeably absent on the list of other supportive automakers is Tesla.

What's particularly odd is that the Silicon Valley carmaker has been rumored to be working with Apple for some time now on a host of smart-car features and potential services. And now that Apple is jumping head-first into this market, Tesla is nowhere to be found.

"Tesla is not commenting on Apple's CarPlay at this time," a rep for the electric car maker is quoted by Apple Insider. What's surprising is how Tesla, which is known for laying out its plans for all to see, is also being so reticent on the matter. It leads some to believe that Apple and Tesla may have failed to reach a productive working arrangement.

So far, BMW Group, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai Motor Company, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia Motors, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan Motor Company, PSA Peugeot CitroŽn, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota Motor Corp. are already committed to CarPlay.
