On Wednesday, the highly popular Spotify music streaming service updated its iOS application, bringing the application up to version 1.0.0.
Spotify credits this update as the "best-looking Spotify ever," and they're fair to do so. Version 1.0.0 of the application has given the iPhone and iPod touch version of the application a complete makeover. You can see some examples of the new application in the screenshots above, which seem to take design queues from iOS 7's new transparency and blurs. Notably, the iPad version of the application still looks the same.
In addition, the application's function has also been improved. The music browsing feature now helps you find playlists that fit your own music styles. Again, this new feature is only for the iPhone and iPod touch, but not the iPad.
Improvements to the application have also been added, including a much faster start-up time, and various bug fixes and stability improvements to improve the user experience. iPhone, iPod touch, and also iPad users can take advantage of these improvements.
Existing users of the Spotify application will be able to download the update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of the Spotify application for iOS for free from this App Store link.
It should also be noted that Spotify just started offering students 50% off of its Spotify Premium service, allowing students to have unlimited access to music for just $4.99 per month.
