On Tuesday morning, China's Economic Daily News reported that Apple is set to place the first round of orders for the new iWatch with Quanta.
The long rumored but still unconfirmed wearable device is now widely expected to be unveiled sometime during the third quarter of this year. As many as 65 million units will likely be shipped in the final months of 2014, the Chinese-language report estimates.
The iWatch will be manufactured by Quanta Computer, while Taiwan-based chip design house Richtek has also entered the supply chain. The device's touch panel will be supplied by TPK.
Apple is purportedly asking suppliers to turn in their products by late summer in anticipation of an early fall roll out.
