• Report: Apple Hiring for Major Mobile Payments Push

Yes, it's a headline you've read many times before. But we've never before been closer to the end zone than we are today.

According to industry sources close to Apple, the company's long-awaited mobile payments push is about to happen. And possibly in a very big way.

"iPhone owners may soon be able to use their device to purchase goods and services at brick-and-mortar businesses as Apple has reportedly begun interviewing senior-level candidates to build an iTunes-backed mobile payments business," says Jason Del Rey of Re/Code.

Apple is said to be hiring top industry talent at a frenzied pace to ensure that knowledgeable persons are in place for what's coming next.

“Their ambitions are very, very serious,” one of the sources is quoted in today's Re/Code report.

Although Apple and PayPal have continued talks about a possible elaborate partnership, it remains to be seen if Apple's pending plans have anything to do with the eBay-owned mobile payments juggernaut.
