For those not expecting to see Apple's next-gen flagship smartphone, the eagerly anticipated iPhone 6, you may not have to wait until September or October, as originally expected.
The new refreshed iPhone may arrive in August. That is, of course, if a new report published Friday is truly based on knowledgeable sources and insight.
Taiwanese media cites unidentified supply-chain sources, all of whom say a 4.7-inch screen version of the iPhone 6 will be here well before September. However, early fall remains the launch estimate for a 5.5-inch or 5.6-inch model of the iPhone 6.
Industry analysts say the new-gen iPhone could be such a hot commodity that Apple may produce some 80 million iPhone 6 handsets before 2014 comes to a close.
"Industry watchers have said increasing the iPhone's screen size from 4 inches would help Apple regain market share from competitors such as Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, who they say have responded to consumer desire for more screen size," Reuters reports.
