• Instagram Update Takes Away Auto-Sharing Activitiy on Facebook

Instagram updated its iOS client recently bringing the version to 5.0.11. The update was pretty small and the change log only mentioned one alteration, however, a pretty significant alteration. It took away the auto-sharing Facebook activity. Users will only be able to share activity deliberately to Facebook manually, using the in-app share button. Due to this change, Facebook users’ newsfeed should not be as cluttered. Here are the notes that were released:

    What’s New in Version 5.0.11
Updated Facebook share settings: Continue sharing your Instagram photos and videos on Facebook. But Instagram likes and activity will no longer be shared on Facebook.
It was unclear as to why Facebook decided to make this change, but possibly because it was becoming a problem that 200 million plus Facebook users were auto-posting from Instagram- it could have been either wasting server resources or just simple user annoyance. It is also a possibility that this significant change was just part of Facebook’s cleaning. Just last week, the company decided to streamline its iOS offerings by taking out Poke and Camera from the Apple App store and released a major update to its official client.

The latest version 5.0.22 of Instagram can be downloaded for free in the App Store.
