• Apple's iOS 8 Makes Gaming Better on the iPhone

During yesterday’s WWDC presentation, Apple took some time to talk about gaming. It was noted that gaming is an area Apple is ‘pushing on very strongly’ for, and they also talked about a new feature coming for developers and gamers; Controller Forwarding. Control forwarding is a feature that expands on the Made-For-iPad/iPhone game controllers that was introduced along with Apple’s iOS 7 last year.

The feature will allow MFi controllers that snap onto iPhones to act as controllers for Macs and iPads as well. So now, users will be able to use their iPhones with a connected MFi game controller for games running on the Mac or iPad. Developers will also be able to use the touchscreen on the iPhone, motion control, and the physical buttons on the controller for input.

Also announced during the presentation for developers were gaming stats. After just introducing MFi controllers a year ago, Apple has pushed out thousands of games with MFi support. In-Store demos with the controllers at Apple retail stores have also been launched as part of its gaming push. On top of all this, Game Center has also reached 130 million monthly active users last month.
