After introducing the new entry-level iMac this morning, Apple has also reportedly dropped the price of the Apple TV in a few markets outside of the U.S. The Apple TV sold in the UK and Europe has received a price drop of £20 and €10 respectively. Those in Europe can now purchase the Apple TV set-top box for €99 and £79 for those in the UK. However, the price remains the same in the United States.
The new version of the Apple TV software has been released for developers along with the second beta previews of OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 recently. The updates are supposed to be used to test AirPlay, with apps that are using the developer preview versions of the company’s upcoming software, to be released sometime this fall. Along with AirPlay testing, developers also get to test out the software including iCloud Family Sharing.
