• Report: iPad Still Dominates Mobile Commerce

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Despite the increasing competition across the tablet and smartphone landscape, Apple's iDevices remain the overwhelming favorite gadgets of eCommerce junkies. In fact, the latest industry data suggests that the overwhelming majority of purchases made on a mobile device originate from an Apple device.

This week, the new E-commerce Pulse Report from Custora reveals a commanding lead for iPad in the mobile commerce world. "Apple's mobile supremacy remains," the report summary reads, even though Apple "continues to be challenged, most notably by Samsung and more recently, Amazon."

Based on the data compiled and shared by Custora, iOS now accounts for more than half (54 percent) of all phone orders and, incredibly, a staggering 80 percent of all tablet computer purchases.

Although it remains to be seen if Apple can sustain these commanding market shares over time, for now Apple is the undisputed king of mobile commerce.
