• Apple Reportedly Augmenting Reno Data Center

Local reports out of Nevada indicate Apple is proceeding with plans to augment its data center's downtown location in Reno.

What we know for certain is that the iDevice maker is seeking permits to make several key improvements to its Reno Technology Park campus. These plans, we're told, including plans for building out new data center facilities.

The new facilities will bring the number of data cluster buildings at the Apple campus to eight, including the initial 20,000 square-foot rapid deployment module that went live earlier this year as part of "Phase 1" development.
"They just keep plugging along," Trevor Lloyd, senior planner for Washoe County, is quoted by the Reno Gazette-Journal. "Apple keeps submitting plans and it looks like they'll be expanding for a long time."

Apple has been working closely with government officials in the Reno area for more than two years on this project.
