• Popular ProWidgets Tweak Gets Major Update With Tons of New Features and Improvements

On Sunday, iOS developer Alan Yip (tweakcc) released a very major update for his popular ProWidgets extensible widgets platform for iOS 7 devices. If you've never heard of ProWidgets before, you really should check it out. It's a beautifully polished way to give you access to important features of iOS 7 right from widgets, and it runs very deep inside of the operating system for what feels like very complete integration all around.

Not only does the widget system come with plenty of built-in widgets, but third party developers have been working on additional widgets that can be downloaded from Cydia for free as separate downloads. We have shown you many in the past, including a currency conversion widget, a Wikipedia widget, and many others.

Sunday's update brings a ton of new features, improvements, and even bug fixes to the table. The developer shared with us this lengthy change log this morning before pushing the update:

    • Support iOS 7.1
    • Support resizing widgets on iPad
    • Many new features for built-in widgets (see below)

    New Features:
    • Minimized widgets now support live preview (noticeable in Timer widget). All are disabled by default for better performance so user must manually set enabled state individually.
    • Included 4 presentation styles (zoom, fade, slide up and down)
    • Added "Speak" button in Dictionary widget (thanks to built-in text-to-speech)
    • Added "Create Event" integration for Calendar widget
    • Added "Define" integration for Dictionary widget (for single word only)
    • Added an option to remove the default "http://" in Browser widget
    • Added Google search suggestion in Browser widget
    • Added support to Chrome in Browser widget (not support adding bookmarks)

    Bug Fixes:
    • Fixed an issue that ignores default calendar/list in Calendar, Reminders and Notes widgets
    • Fixed unresponsive "Bookmark" integration for Browser widget
    • Fixed the hidden Copy/Paste menu
    • Fixed "Unable to start timer" error
    • Fixed the conflict with LockInfo7

    • Minor UI and alert content improvements
    • Added experimental settings for iPhone
    • Added shadow on iPad (one of the experimental features on iPhone)
    • Tuned table view style in Settings on iPad
    • Browser widget is now compatible with LinkOpener
As we can see right off the bat, the new change log list is pretty long and it's clear to us that Yip spent a lot of time fine-tuning ProWidgets. The newfangled support for iOS 7.1.x means that it's fully compatible with the new Pangu iOS 7.1.x jailbreak as well.

If you're already a user of ProWidgets, then this update is available to you for free in Cydia's Changes tab. If you've never used ProWidgets before, it can be purchased right now from Cydia's BigBoss repository for a very fair $2.99 price tag.

Hi, for Control Centre activation on the iPad, try using QuickActivator instead of CCloader
