• Tim Cook Tours Palo Alto VA Hospital

On a day when HealthKit is making headlines for reasons both negative and positive, Apple CEO Tim Cook found himself at the hospital.

But he's not the patient. Instead, Apple's chief executive toured the Palo Alto, California VA hospital. It's no coincidence, however, that the hospital in question is publicly quite fond of using various Apple products -- most notably, the iPad.

"Honored to meet doctors & Veterans with @RepAnnaEshoo at @VAPaloAlto, now using iPads to help treat Vets & families," Cook tweeted after the meeting.

Although it wasn't made clear if Apple will be working closely with the VA via HealthKit or another Apple-spearheaded effort, one thing is for certain. The VA has taken a PR beating of epic proportions in recent months following sweeping accusations that veterans are receiving inferior care and attention. If Apple can be the hero in this matter to some extent, it's a safe bet they will be.

It would be cool if Apple duked a couple billion to the VA to upgrade their systems. It would be a massive Pr move that would reap great rewards for them, especially with all the attention the VA has gotten Apple would get lots of coverage as a hero. And the vets would benefit greatly!
