• Not True, Says U2 of Rumored Apple Partnership

Dr. Dre inked a deal with Apple. Is Bono next?

Despite some surprisingly intense rumors to the contrary in recent weeks, it now appears that there's no truth behind speculation that Apple will announce a formal partnership with U2 at Apple's September 9th media event.

So who shot down the speculation? The band's representative.

"They are not releasing their album on the iPhone, and they are not performing at the iPhone launch," the rep is quoted by the Irish Independent.

Although Apple and Bono have had a close relationship over the years, it doesn't appear that a formal business relationship is in place. At least not yet.

Perhaps it should the noted, however, that the article link where the rep is quoted is no longer available.

    So let the rumors continue....

I highly doubt this is true. U2 is not even relevant as a band anymore. Why would anyone want their new album preloaded on their phone.
