• Apple Claims Top Spot in Most Recent American Customer Satisfaction Index Rankings

Even though Apple has a 3% decline in customer satisfaction rating year-over-year, the company still appears to be at the top spot in the most recent American Customer Satisfaction Index rankings for personal computer manufacturers. The Cupertino California company managed to score an 84, down from 87 a year ago, but still high enough to maintain a two-point lead over ďAll OtherĒ companies such as Samsung, Lenovo and Asus which combined to score 82 points. Furthermore, the gap widened from there to Dell, which scored 76 to come in third and Acer, Toshiba and Hewlett-Packard rounding up the top five.

One thing that was surprising was that consumers showed a renewed interest in desktop computers. Satisfaction with the wall-bound machines ticked up by 3% year-over-year compared to 3% and 1% dips for both laptops and tablets respectively. The following was said by ACSI Chairman and founder, Claes Fornell, regarding the matter:

The increase in customer satisfaction for PCs could mean two different things. Either the product is seen as more attractive now and is poised for a comeback, or it has higher customer satisfaction simply because those who were less than happy with it have moved to other devices. If dissatisfied customers leave and satisfied customers stay, average satisfaction may well go up.
For those of you who didnít know, the ACSI surveys consumers each year (roughly 70,000) benchmarking satisfaction with their most-used products and services in various categories. These surveys have given Apple the top spot in the personal computer satisfaction rankings (which includes tablets) in every ranking since the year 2004, which isn't very surprising given Apple's offerings.
