On Friday, Jay Freeman (Saurik), the head honcho behind Cydia himself, released an updated version of the Apple File Conduit 2 (AFC2) jailbreak extension with official support for iOS 8. It's now available via the Cydia/Telesphoreo repository in Cydia.
The software extension allows users of jailbroken devices to view their file system over a USB connection, rather than having to connect via SSH. This allows for a more secure connection that is sometimes even faster and more reliable.
Saurik credits iOS developer PoomSmart for the help in updating AFC2 for iOS 8. He has been busy this week updating many necessary Cydia extensions for the unexpected Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8.x, including Cydia and Cydia Substrate. He is currently working with the Pangu jailbreak team to get the latest version of Cydia bundled with the jailbreak tool for users.
While we recommend waiting for the English version of Pangu for iOS 8, which will bundle Cydia into the tool, if you're impatient and want to get started now, you can follow our guide on how to jailbreak your iOS 8.x device at this link. You can also follow our guide on how to manually install Cydia at this link.
