On Wednesday, Saurik has updated the Cydia Installer package for iOS 8 once again, this time making version 1.1.16 the most current version of the important third-party installer software for jailbroken iOS 8 devices.
Cydia Installer 1.1.16 aims to fix problems with the software not running right on devices that were restored from a back-up. This was one of the problems plaguing devices that were jailbroken with the Pangu jailbreak tool for iOS 8, as we noted in our
post yesterday about upgrading to iOS 8.1 and jailbreaking as soon as you can, and it's one of the reasons that we recommended a full DFU mode restore before jailbreaking.
Saurik's change log for Cydia Installer 1.1.16 can be found below:

iOS 8 "Restore from Backup" Fixed
This update fixes an important bug in Cydia 1.1.14 and 1.1.15 on iOS 8: if you used "restore from backup" in iTunes after your first use of Cydia, you needed to reinstall this package to make sure your device could safely reboot with a passcode enabled.
It should now be OK to use the iTunes "restore from backup" feature without needing to then reinstall Cydia Installer afterward to avoid reboot problems.
Now that the issue has been fixed, you're now safe to go ahead and jailbreak any iOS 8.1 device that you may have that you may have restored from a backup on after updating or restoring the device through iTunes.
