• Winn-Dixie and BI-LO Supermarkets Now Accept Apple Pay

We announced just yesterday that Staples added Apple Pay in their stores ahead of Black Friday, which is now only two weeks away. Now it has been reported that Winn-Dixie and BI-LO have also added Appleís newest mobile payment feature to their retail chain this week as well. It was noted by a MacRumors reader that Apple Pay wonít go into effect until Monday November 17th but others have claimed otherwise and said that the retail stores have already started it.

For those who donít know what Winn-Dixie is, itís a popular supermarket chain that has over 500 stores in Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. BI-LO is Winn-Dixie's sister store, also a supermarket chain that has over 800 stores in Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The popular supermarket chain is owned by the same parent company of Winn-Dixie. Other popular supermarket chains that already have Apple Pay installed include Wegmans, Whole Foods, and Meijer.

We would say that Apple Pay has been pretty successful in just the short amount of time it has launched. They now have a total of 36 retail partners after the addition of Winn-Dixie and BI-LO. We reported a few days ago that Apple Pay made up 1% of all Whole Foods transactions in just a little over two weeks it was released, which is definitely an impressive number. As the system is still new, we will have to see how popular Apple Pay gets with the retail community.
