• Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter Updated, Lightroom Update Likely to Come Soon

Adobe recently announced updates to Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter. The updates bring additional support for cameras and lenses while also patching several minor bugs found in the software. To be more specific, the latest software updates bring Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 and Photoshop CS6 users expanded camera support for Sony’s ILCE-A7M2 camera as well as bug fixes dealing with a chromatic aberration issue specific to Samsung’s NX1 camera. The changes will likely make their way over to an anticipated Lightroom update within the next week.

Furthermore, new lens profiles were also added to Camera Raw, covering Canon EF, Leica M, Nikon F and Sony mounts. Lens profile support in Adobe Camera Raw 8.7.1 includes the following:

    Canon EF

Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM
    Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM
    Tokina AT-X 12-28 F4 PRO DX

    Leica M

    Zeiss Distagon T* 1,4/35 ZM

    Nikon F

    Tokina AT-X 12-28 F4 PRO DX
    Tokina AT-X 70-200mm F4 PRO FX VCM-S

    Sony Alpha

    Tokina AT-X 166 PRO DX II 11-16 F2.8
Adobe Camera Raw 8.7.1 is a free update for current Photoshop CC subscribers and Photoshop CS6 owners. DNG Converter 8.7.1 can be downloaded directly from Adobe’s website for those of you who are interested.

As of right now, Adobe hasn’t made any announcements regarding the Lightroom 5.7.1 update. It is being assumed both ACR 8.7.1 and DNG Converter 8.7.1 are to be included in the release. Previously the company updated Lightroom with a tool for importing photos from Apple’s soon to be discontinued iPhoto and Aperture apps.

Those of you who may not have subscriptions already can sign up for one of Adobe’s Creative Cloud subscriptions which are offered in tiers. If you’re interested you should check out the tiers by clicking here and seeing which tier fits your needs best. Keep in mind, when it comes to Lightroom, you can try it for 30 days free before buying it.
