• Brushstroke Goes Free in the iOS App Store As This Week's App of the Week

It's a brand-new Thursday, which means we have a brand-new App of the Week in Apple's iOS App Store. This week, Apple has selected Brushstroke as the App of the Week, meaning that the usual $2.99 price tag is now gone and that the application can now be downloaded for free. In case you missed it, last week's App of the Week was Space Qube.

Brushstroke is a unique application that allows you to convert your photographs into paintings. It achieves this with the use of specialized image effects and filters. You can convert images that you already have stored in your Camera Roll, or you can take new photographs to convert directly from the application itself.

When you're done, you can sign the image like you would a painting, and then share the new image with all or any of your favorite social networks, or you can message or e-mail them to friends or family.

To give the now-free Brushstroke a try, you can head over to this App Store link to check it out!

How do these App of the Week promotions work, does Apple reimburse the seller for lost revenue?

Many, not all, but many of them have in-app purchases. The company gives the app away with the hope that more people=more IAPs=more $$$.

Looks like it allows in-app purchases, so maybe driving new users to it is good enough for the developers?

Works good! It really does make photos look like paintings.

It would be nice if you could save presets so you don't have to change a bunch of settings to get an effect you achieved previously.
