• Apple CEO Tim Cook Makes Generous Personal Donation to LGBT Campaign

It has been reported that Apple CEO Tim Cook has recently made a generous personal donation, or otherwise called a ‘personal financial investment’ to an LGBT equality campaign called Project One America. The campaign focuses their attention on Southern states Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas. Chad Griffin, the Campaign President thanked Cook on the organization’s blog:

When Tim first learned about HRC’s Project One America – our bold, comprehensive campaign to dramatically advance equality for LGBT Americans in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi – he said, “I’m in.” Thanks to his generous personal financial investment in the program, together we will move the needle forward at the local and state level, tearing down misperceptions and providing concrete protections for those who need it most.
Back in October, Cook decided to share his sexuality to the public for the first time and became the first Fortune 500 CEO to be openly gay. Griffin not only thanked Cook but also complimented on Cook’s announcement from October.

As the head of one of the largest and most influential companies in the world, his decision sent ripples across the globe with one clear and powerful message: It’s OK to be gay. As the first openly gay CEO of a Fortune 500 company, Tim will have an enormous impact on corporate America and beyond.
The amount Cook donated to the organization was not mentioned, but it was apparently “substantial.” Apple’s CEO had criticized Alabama earlier in the season, stating that his hometown was slow in progressing LGBT issues. Because of what Cook had said, the state’s representative plans on introducing a new anti-discrimination bill in 2015.
