• Samsung Wants to Buy BlackBerry, Says Report

Having been on and off the market at various times in recent years, BlackBerry has been subjected to no shortage of acquisition or takeover rumors since 2011. For the last four years, however, nothing has manifested. But could a deal now finally be imminent?

According to knowledgeable sources picked up by Reuters and across the mainstream tech news media, BlackBerry has been approached by Samsung to discuss a potential acquisition worth a reported $7.5 billion.

There are also documents seen by Reuters that prove acquisition talks are at least somewhat true... or at least we thought so until BlackBerry responded to the Reuters report a short while ago. Denying that there have been acquisition talks, BlackBerry says nothing is in the works with Samsung.

Of course, many acquisitions in the tech world have followed long stretches of public denials. Could this be such a case again? It goes without saying that such a deal would mean more to Samsung than BlackBerry in the grand scheme of things. "A deal would give Samsung access to Blackberry's patents, which the source said would help it take on arch rival Apple," Reuters reports.

So... will it happen? Time will only tell. But for now, BlackBerry says no. But sources in the know think it's a strong possibility.
