• Foursquare iOS App Updated With iOS 8 Notification Center Widget, Ability to Use App Without Signing in

Foursquare has released an updated version of its iOS application on Friday that brings with it some nifty new features that many are sure to take advantage of. The latest version of the Foursquare iOS application is now version 8.7 via the iOS App Store.

Version 8.7 brings with it the ability for users to take advantage of the Foursquare application without even needing to sign in to the application. This will be handy for new users that don't really feel like creating an account and just want to search around nearby for interesting places. You'll notice the "Skip Sign Up" button in the introduction and sign in screen above.

Additionally, the update includes a new Notification Center widget for the Today section of Notification Center in iOS 8, as shown below:

You do have to be signed into the Foursquare application to use the widget, which is contrary of the application itself, but it will allow you to search nearby from your current location for restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and other anything else that can be searched for in a search field.

Foursquare also touts bug fixes and stability improvements in version 8.7, so if you're already using Foursquare for iOS, then you will want to grab this update so you have the most stable build of the application to date with all of its new features. Existing users will find this update under the Updates tab in the App Store application and those with automatic updates will have this update installed for them automatically. As always, you can also visit this App Store link to download the latest version of the application manually.
