It was reported in December of last year that VLC Media Player would return to the iOS App Store some time in early 2015, and already, a new version (version 2.4.1) of the third-party media player appears to be making its way to the iOS App Store for a select number of users.
The application has reportedly hit the New Zealand App Store and 9to5Mac confirmed that some those that already have the legacy version of the VLC application for iOS installed on their iOS device from ages ago appear to be able to update to the new version of the VLC Media Player right now.
At this point in time, VLC Media Player is not showing up in App Store queries in the United States App Store and is not yet available to the general public, although it is rolling out to select users and in some other countries. Those interested should keep their eyes peeled, as VLC Media Player has a habit of appearing and then disappearing again from the iOS App Store.
We will continue to keep you updated as the application surfaces for everyone, so stay tuned!
