• Google Opens First 'Store in a Store' Retail Shop in London

Tech giant Google is finally going into the retail world by launching a London based ‘store within a store.’ Like the Apple Store, the space will allow Google to promote and showcase Chromebooks, Android phones, and the Chromecast. The shop will be located in Tottenham Court Road inside the Currys PC World outlet, according to The Wall Street Journal. It was noted that all sales would be going to Dixons Carphone even though the space belongs to Google.

Surprisingly enough Sebastian James, CEO of Dixons Carphone noted that the area is not being rented out by Google and instead the shop is ‘billboarding’ for the company. The tech giant also noted that two more shops would be opening in London this year in Thurrock and Fulham, inside Currys PC World. This might be Google’s way in competing with Apple even though it’s not their own retail space. This may just be a trial run for Google to see if customers would actually purchase from these stores.

Microsoft actually went all out and opened up retail stores just like Apple from the start, but Google may not want to invest all that money into this idea before knowing the outcome. We’d say Google is actually being smarter about the whole ordeal, in case it doesn’t work out as expected. What are your thoughts on this matter? Let us know in the section below.

Thurrock is to the east of London, not actually in London
