According to a quarterly results announcement, Pegatron recently saw annual net profits rise a whopping 53.4% to $466.8 million US in 2014. Reuters claims the rise in profits was attributed to the production of the iPhon e6 which was said to have greatly benefitted Pegatron’s bottom line in 2014. Notably, fourth-quarter profits surged 68% to T$5.68 billion, which was a new record. Furthermore, one thing to keep in mind is that the iPhone 6 was released only partway through Pegatron’s fiscal year in September.
Pegatron CEO Jason Cheng had the following to say about his merits when asked about the company’s reliance on smartphones during the announcement:
It's definitely not a good thing to be too concentrated on just a few clients. But you can't avoid the fact that mobile phones have been fast sellers. When good business comes your way, how can you not take it?
Regardless, of the reason, it’s likely that both Apple and definitely Pegatron are both content with the recent changes.
