• New Apple iPad Air 2 Devices Will Be Given Out to UK Politicians

It was reported that Apple iPad Air 2 devices as well as laptops would be given out to the 650 politicians who get to sit in at U.K’s House of Commons on May 7th. You would think that everyone would be on board with this decision, however, some actually aren’t. Apparently Chi Onwurah and Shadow Cabinet Office minister did not like the plan and stated instead,

Locking some of the most powerful people in the country into a platform that most of my constituents can’t afford seems like a mistake.
It is not entirely clear as to why the two politicians feel this way, but maybe they’re Android users instead. Liberal Democrat politician John Thurso noted the opposite however, and defended the idea:

Our requirements are for a secure, SIM-enabled tablet with a good life expectancy and capable of supporting future upgrades. The Apple iPad Air 2 meets these requirements and is competitively priced when compared with similar models.
U.K.’s Parliament has apparently been using Apple’s iPad for a few years now back since 2012. But there has been much controversy over this as a politician was found playing Candy Crush on the iPad during a political debate last year. Then a few years ago back in 2011, Simeone Di Cagno Abbrescia, an Italian politician was found looking for escorts on the iPad during a political session.

We would understand if some politicians did not like the idea of having tablets during a parliament session, but not wanting the iPad specifically seems kind of strange to us. What are your thoughts on this matter? Let us know below.

I disagree. Make sure Parliament or the government itself actually owns them, then or put passcodes on them to prevent downloading games, deleting history, etc. Then once your term is done, they simply take it back and give it to the new candidate. Then everyone has the tablet that meets whatever qualifications Parliament sets, but it's used strictly as a work tablet.

in place of a laptop, maybe I'd agree; if tablets were any real use in this kind of work place
