• Slice Data Says Close to 1 Million Apple Watches Preordered Over the Weekend

According to freshly published data from Slice Intelligence, Apple Watch had a mammoth opening weekend of preorders.

Now, while we must stress that this information does not originate from Apple, the data is still worth mentioning. Why? Because, if accurate, Apple Watch could be on pace to be the blockbuster new smartwatch of the year.

Slice Intelligence believes that approximately 950,000 people in the U.S. pre-ordered an Apple Watch on Friday. So how did Slice researchers procure their data?

"According to ereceipt data from a panel of two million online shoppers, each Apple Watch buyer ordered an average of 1.3 watches, spending $503.83 per watch," Monday's report reads. "Those ordering an Apple Watch Sport spent $382.83 per watch and those ordering the Apple Watch spent $707.04."

Not surprisingly, Apple Watch preorders were particularly common for consumers already in the Apple family. Of those who preordered the device, 72 percent had already purchased an Apple product within the last 24 months.
