• Wikipedia iOS App Updated With Improvements to Sharing, Searching, and More

The Wikipedia Mobile application for the iOS platform received an update on Wednesday that improves the feature set of the application all around. The latest version of Wikipedia Mobile that you can now download on your iOS devices is version 4.1.0 and is available right now.

Among the improvements in this update are to the way you share content with others and the way to search the online encyclopedia for knowledge. The new sharing option to share an image of what you're looking at to your favorite social networks makes it easier than ever before to share something of interest without the need to copy and paste text. Moreover, the searching functionality in the application now supports fulltext look-ups and quick descriptions from search results.

Wikipedia Mobile has also received major improvements to its image presentation. The application now supports lead images, which allow for a relevant image to appear at the top of any article you decide to read about along with a text description. You can also tap on said images to enter full-screen display mode and swipe through the images to see more from the same article.

If that wasn't enough, suggestions at the bottoms of the articles that you read will now point you into the direction of relatively relevant posts.

Existing users of Wikipedia Mobile will find this update waiting for them under the Updates tab in the App Store application; those with Automatic Updates enabled will have this update installed for them automatically. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Wikipedia Mobile for free from this App Store link.

I'm not sure why, but I never thought Wikipedia had an iPhone app. Weird.
