• Skype 7.7 Released for Mac OS X With Support for Web Link Previews

Microsoft has released an updated version of Skype for Mac OS X dubbed version 7.7 that comes with some handy new features and improvements, as noted by Skype on their blog.

The update now allows Web Links to display previews within the chat so that you can see what you're clicking on before you click on it to help prevent unwanted Web site navigation. For the sender, it also eliminates the need to send a quick summary of the link before sending the link, as it will already come with one.

Other services like Facebook have already had this feature for eons, so it's nice to see more chat services adopting the feature for ease of use and security.

Moreover, improvements have been added to the application, such as a problem with the application not starting due to a corrupted index problem, as well as allowing fixing a problem that wouldn't allow users to disable user going offline notifications.

To upgrade to the latest version, all you need to do is open Skype on your Mac OS X computer and then go to the "Check for Updates" option under the Skype menu. You will then be able to install the update after quitting the Skype application. Skype 7.7 requires Mac OS X 10.9 or later.
