• Shazam Updates iOS Apps So You Can Tag Music From Your Apple Watch

On Monday, Shazam has started rolling out updates for its iOS applications with official support for the Apple Watch. The latest version of the application that can be had from the iOS App Store is version 8.5.0.

The new support for the Apple Watch allows those with Apple Watches to tag music right from their Apple Watch. With the paired iPhone within Bluetooth proximity of the Apple Watch, the user can open the Shazam application from their Apple Watch Home Screen in order to use the device's built-in microphone for finding out what kinds of catchy tunes are playing around them.

Directly from the Apple Watch Web section of Apple's Web site, Apple describes how Shazam is used on the Apple Watch:

What’s that song? And what’s that singer saying? With Shazam for Apple Watch, a tap on the app icon prompts your iPhone to listen to what’s playing. Your Apple Watch displays the name of the song, the artist, and the lyrics. Feel free to sing harmony, because the words automatically advance in time with the music.
The Shazam application change log for version 8.5.0 explains the new features in more detail:

Shazam in no time. Launch Shazam on your Apple Watch for the artist, song, and lyrics that unfold with the music.
    • Find out what song is playing in seconds
    • Follow along with the lyrics
    • See your past Shazams at a Glance with a simple swipe up
    • Turn on Auto Shazam and we’ll keep finding tunes for you
    • Use Handoff on Apple Watch and iPhone to buy the song on iTunes, watch videos, and much more
Not only can you tag music, but you can follow along with lyrics right on your Apple Watch, see your past Shazams, and even have your Apple Watch automatically Shazam music as you hear it around you without the need to manually tag music yourself.

You can download the latest version of Shazam for free from this App Store link, or the latest version of Shazam Encore for $6.99 from this App Store link. Those already using the application(s) will find this update under the Updates tab in the App Store application; if automatic updates is enabled, the updates will be installed for you automatically.
