
New reports are claiming that Apple has plans of bringing public transit directions back to their Maps app for iOS and OS X. Apparently the company put up a listing for a software engineer to join their Maps division’s routing team. It has been almost three years since Apple decided to abandon data from Google Maps. According to the listing,
As a member of the Routing team, you will work on one of the most anticipated features of Apple Maps.
in-depth knowledge about public transit, both as a rider and on a technical level.
Apple has plans of announcing many different things at this years Worldwide Developers Conference, which begins on June 8th. Maps could possibly be one of the announcements, but any changes would have to be in iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 presumably.
