• The Latest Chatter Says Microsoft Could Pay $7 Billion for BlackBerry

On Tuesday, chatter surrounding the rumored pending power-play by Microsoft to acquire BlackBerry intensified amidst a flurry of reports that are beginning to discuss exactly how much that deal could be worth.

The Canadian smartphone maker, which has struggled to regain its footing in mobile amidst the modern ascension of iOS and Android, is reportedly on the radar of Microsoft -- a company with the power and financial resources to potentially turn BlackBerry around or at least leverage its resources to better mobilize its own mobile ambitions.

"It should be noted, however, that no sources at Microsoft or BlackBerry have gone on the record to publicly disclose a possible deal," says Eric Banes of Mobile Advertising Watch. "But connected individuals in-the-know indicate that talks are advancing behind closed doors."

If a deal happens -- and no one is certain that it will -- Microsoft could end up paying a cool $7 billion for BlackBerry.

For now, talks are said to be progressing but nothing is close to being finalized by any stretch of the imagination.
